Prepare for the Arrival of Your Little One with Pre- and Post-Natal Rehab!
Are you currently expecting a child? Pregnancy brings joy but also pre/post-natal pain. Chesterton Physical Therapy provides support for this transformative time.
These modifications typically include changes in posture, increased pelvic floor loads, and ligament stretching and thickening.
These changes in the body can also cause back pain and pelvic floor issues, as well as muscle weakness, which may lead to urinary incontinence and difficulties triggering the core muscles.
Pregnancy is a normal part of life, however, it can be made much more comfortable with prenatal and postnatal therapy.
At Chesterton Physical Therapy, we combine therapies such as massage therapy and pelvic floor therapy to help make pregnancy and childbirth as smooth as possible.
At our Dunes Plaza and Sand Creek physical therapy clinic, our goal is to prepare your body for the journey ahead, so that you can concentrate on getting ready to welcome your new baby into this world.
Whether you are an expectant mother or one who has recently given birth, don’t hesitate to contact us at Chesterton Physical Therapy today! We will help make your pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum recovery as easy for you as possible.
Common pain symptoms during pregnancy
Chesterton Physical Therapy can help mothers deal with pre and postnatal pains as their bodies experience the effects of pregnancy and childbirth.
Some of the most common symptoms that expecting or new mothers experience are:
- Prolapse, or the sensation that the organs are “dropping”
- Constipation
- Urinary or fecal incontinence
- Inability to fully empty the bladder
- Pain during sex
Know that you have treatment available to relieve your pain, and avoid it from coming back in the future if you are having these symptoms.
Physical therapy can help with scarring
By incorporating physical therapy in your prenatal and postnatal care, you will be better prepared for one of the greatest challenges in your life: delivering and caring for an infant.
It’s very common for pregnancy to result in scarring due to episiotomies and C-sections. This can trigger restrictions in the myofascial system of the body.
When you try to move, this may result in a reduced range of motion or unpleasant sensations and pain.
Our Dunes Plaza, Willowcreek Rd, and Sand Creek physical therapists use unique myofascial and scar-release strategies to remove these limitations and avoid further compromising of the myofascial system.
Some women can also experience diastasis recti, also known as abdominal separation. Diastasis recti may impede abdominal muscle strengthening and result in what some refer to as a post-pregnancy “pooch.”
Our therapists can diagnose and treat your prenatal and postnatal pain using the strongest evidence-based clinical knowledge available!
We carry out our treatment plans with compassion, concern, and understanding, so you can be confident that no matter what stage of your pregnancy you are in, we will take care of you and do all we can to ensure the best possible outcome!
Physical therapy can make your pregnancy and delivery easier
Within 6 weeks of giving birth, several new moms start seeing a physical therapist, and some even earlier!
Bringing a new life into the world is supposed to be an exciting and happy time for you and your family. If you have pre- or postnatal pain, you’ve come to the right place for pain relief.
